Christmas Pennant Swap

A close group of paper craft friends and I decided to a pennant exchange for the Holidays. Unfortunately because they were all coming from the US, I only received them the 2nd week of January! I decided since I wasn't going to string them, that I'd make a little book from them all. I made the front and back covers a bit larger out of recycled cardboard and decorated it with the name of the group. Here are the pennants I sent out for the exchange along with the photos of the little book I made.

What A Relief!

I've been waiting forever to post these journals I made for 2 of my online friends. I mailed them each a flat bubble envelope and it cost me $21. I sent the packages out on December 1st and they are just now receiving them. I found it weird that they were going to 2 different States and both packages had gone missing! I was so relieved to hear that each of them received them after more than a month! I used my Cricut to cut out the letters of their name and a Lasting Impressions template for the tiny flowers.

I case'd this Christmas card while I was at my Mom's visiting. It's simple to make but the tiny boys are a bit of a pain. This card is the perfect way to use up your scraps though!

I got this watering can recently and played around with some of the bits of LI papers I had. The watering can template from Lasting Impressions is a little bit big for a standard sized card. I might try using a larger square card base next time I use this stencil.

Back in 2008 I received this awesome card from my friend Heidi. I absolutely fell in love with it and hung it in my craft room. Since I'm making a gazillion Christmas cards this year, I decided to copy Heidi's design. I used a Lasting Impressions stencil and cut the joy out on my Cricut. My card isn't as nice as Heidi's but at least it's simple enough to put together.

I usually send treats to school with my son for Halloween. I had my idea for what I was going to do and then I discovered that I had some Halloween Loot bags so I had to come up with a quick topper idea. I made these tags for the bags. When my son came home from school, I found 5 tags crumpled in the bottom of his school bag I asked him about them. He said "Mommy, I know you worked hard on making those tags so I wanted you to keep some of them".

I've be playing around with some of my Christmas things trying to figure out which design I'm going to use for my Christmas cards this year. I want to get a move on as soon as Halloween. I can't recall ever using this snowman so I decided to give him a whirl. It's not evident but I stamped little white snowflakes in the background using a stamp from Inkadinkadoo. The stencil of course is from Lasting Impressions.

I'm so glad that we learned to colour a nice brilliant sky! Although there wasn't much colouring to do, some of it was pretty tricky. You can't tell from the scan, but the image is mounted on red velvet paper. It really adds a nice touch to the card.

Woohoo, I finally got into my craft room to make a card! I broke open a little card kit I bought to make this cute little cupcake card. Although the kit had cards included, I cut it up to make it last longer. When I bought the kit, I also treated myself to some new ribbon. The kit includes a bunch of stickers and I've never worked with those so it should be interesting.

Back in the Spring, I found a pen holder at the local $1 store. I thought it might be good for my Marvy markers (although I think that they recommend that you lie them flat). I stored them in a plastic container and always had to dig to find the colour I wanted. I thought this would be a great solution. While I was out shopping, I came across this spinner. It was super dirty and $2. I bargained the lady down to $1 so I'd feel like my previous purchase wasn't a waste of money! I cleaned it up and look how perfect it is? The bonus is that I still have lots of room and it spins!

You have no idea how happy I am that the kid is back in school! I am participating in the Same Game challenge on the dry embossing group I belong to. I received these cute little apples from the host Nettie. I figured it was a perfect time to make a few Teacher Thank You cards. I also used a new stamp that I got this summer. The stem and leaves were a bit tricky to cut out but I think I'm going to have add this stencil to my collection. All the stencils are from Lasting Impressions.

I loved this stencil when I first saw it. I don't think I've used it much and now I remember why. It's a pain in the butt to emboss since the parts are so small! I had a heck of a time with this card and it certainly didn't help when I went to apply the ink and was having trouble colouring the fern since my ink pad was dry and when I went to take the stencil off, I discovered that it wasn't lined up with the embossed image since I didn't tape it in place. Grrr. If anything, I was happy to use a newly acquired script stamp from TAC.

I just love this butterfly embossing folder I bought. I've made a few quick cards using it - 5 of them to be exact so I think I'm justified in purchasing it! Here are a few Sympathy cards I whipped up. I think the white is so peaceful and elegant. You can't really see it in my photo but the large butterfly under the text is also embossed.

I hate being late mailing cards since sometimes it takes forever for the mail to arrived to its intended destination. Since I haven't posted a Chez Cin in a long time, I thought I'd share with you how I organize my cards for mailout.

I have a basket that I've created dividers for each month that has all my swaps, cards and bills that need to be mailed for each month. In front of each divider, I have a list of Special Events, Holidays and Birthdays for that month. When I make a card for someone, I address it, put the correct postage on it and slip it into the month it needs to be mailed. When I have a card made, I put a check on my list so I know at a quick glance what cards I need to make.

For one of the embossing groups that I run, I make the list of swaps a year in advance so that people joining the swaps can make their cards in advance. Since I join 3 swaps/month, I stamped the name of the swap on colour coded envelopes so I'd have them all ready to go when I've finished each card.

Isn't it great receiving a card for no reason? A few years back, my son asked if there was a Mother's Day and a Father's Day why was there no Kid's Day? We started to celebrate Kid's Day the last day of school. I usually have cupcakes, balloons and a few other little treats to kick off the summer. I had another go at the using my newest Spellbinders Carnation die set. I haven't figured out how to use the stems. I used some distress ink to colour the flowers. I quite like the colours I used on this card since I've never put them all together before.

I can count the number of Stampin Up stamps I own on one hand. I snatched this set up when a friend of mine was downsizing. So this past weekend, I met a sweet Gal from one of my embossing groups on Yahoo. I spent a couple of days laughing it up with Heidi. I wanted to make her a little something and since I'm always trying to come up with gifts that are flat so that it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to mail, I was pretty excited to make her something different. I made her a wall hanging, pen/tool holder and a post-it note holder with her initial on it.

Every month a group of us get the same embossed pieces in the mail and have to come up with a card idea. This month host Tisha sent us these lovely tulips embossed on white paper. I used twinklin' H20's on my card. I don't think I've ever combined purple with brown before but I quite like it.

I have had this stencil for years and I can't remember ever using it. Today on Dream Scheme Thursdays over at Dream It Up it's a colour challenge. The coulours are blue, brown & cream. It reminds me of the bedroom I had when I lived with my parents. I kind of miss my blue, brown and cream reversable comforter. It was stripes on one side and flowers on the other. Got to love the 80's! What I don't miss is the fake wood panneling especially since I wasn't allowed to hang posters up like regular teenagers!

Okay ... I felt compelled to dig through my stash of photos to see if I could come up with a pic of my old room. This is the closest that I could find. The photo was taken in 1988.

Dragonfly Birthday

My friend Elaine sent me this stencil and I finally got to use it. Since my sister-in-law loves dragonflies, I knew it'd be perfect for her card. Her birthday happens to be tomorrow....it totaly slipped my mind! I better get my butt to the mailbox quick.

A friend of mine is a huge Beatles fan. Since I'm always in a pinch to come up with masculine birthday cards, I remembered I had this free cut file from SVG Cuts so I made this card for him. I know he is going to love it!

My son got invited to a cowboy Birthday party. The boy's mom made up a Cowboy invite and said to put on cowboy gear to attend the party. I made this simple Birthday card to go along with the theme.

I can't remember the last time I made an ATC! I came across this 4-2-4 swap where the theme was Circles so I thought I'd join it. For some reason, when I thought of circles the wood embossing folder came to mind. Luckily I found a nice quote that went with it. My ATCs are somwhat simple but I guess that's because I'm out of practice. I assure you my ATCs look better in person than they do in this scan.
